Anton Eger caught my attention as drummer and integral composer of the jazz trio "Phronesis". He's responsible for outstanding tracks like "67000 mph" on "Parallax" or "Herne Hill" on "The Behemoth". His solo effort "Æ", co-produced and partly co-written by multi-instrumentalist Petter Eldh, is no less ingenious, but be prepared to be taken away into completely different realms. It's not jazz - it's electronically infused avant-fusion with break-neck drum grooves.

I gotta say that lately, there have been several acoustic drummers making some cool electronic music & nu-jazz. Their approach to composition and arrangement tends to skew quite different than people that started on keys or guitar, and I'm def all the way down for it.
For over a decade, Anton Eger has made his mark as one of the most exciting and virtuosic drummers on the scene. Best known for captivating live performances and recordings with the likes of Phronesis and Marius Neset, Eger now releases Æ, the highly-anticipated debut album that's bound to propel his profile to new heights. Full of high-energy drumming, complexity and unpredictability, there's no doubt that Eger has pulled out all the stops for this genre-defying mix of electronica, hardcore contemporary beats and retro musical guilty pleasures.

September 2018. It's July 2020 now. I'm feeling that's too long, y'know..?
This stuff's addictive. You just have to get more of it.
The composition and performance on show are in a class of their own. But I say that every time.
This is jazz like nothing else. Peter Jones
Fantastic. I'd read some online reviews which didn't like the spoken word parts. I love them. They fit seamlessly with the whole concept creating a thought provoking and awesome album. Steve Butler
